pinn
the modern
cutlery for seniors.
existing assistive products
are seldomly used.
with shaking hands and weak arms, eating with conventional cutlery becomes a constant challenge. though essential both as a daily necessity and social activity, it often requires full concentration and often becomes too difficult for seniors. many people avoid assistive products to prevent being perceived as ill or unfit and instead withdraw from social interactions.
redefining the
ergonomic fork.
inspired by the
function of a tong.
tests showed that tongs could be more effective and pinn makes use of this in an innovative way. the transition from grip to tip creates a reverse mechanism movement; the tip opens when the grip is pressed and automatically secures the food on its way to the mouth. it reduces the amount of force and precision required for eating.
elegant yet
functional.
pinn encourages independence, social integration, and elegance. it is designed to bring back joy to dining as it aims to remove the stigma associated with "elderly" utensils.
